Our founder John Puddifoot runs the mobile .NET dev meet up in Cambridge, called the Cambridge Mobile .NET Developers Group (Xamarin and .NET).
The aim of the group is for Xamarin and .NET developers to meet, share experiences, concepts, and have general chat along with talks from guest speakers.

Get familiar with Xamarin
The first talk was an introducton to Xamarin.Forms, a tool that allows .NET developers to use their existing C# skills to develop cross platform mobile apps (see more at our Xamarin page).
John was presenting and spoke about the benefits of using Xamarin.Forms and how it supports Xamarin platform development, with a live coding session. This demo involved using text to speech. After this, there was a discussion among the group about the capabilities of Xamarin development.
Most importantly there was beer, soft drinks, crisps and and snacks (see below for improved feeding).
Unit testing Xamarin.Forms applications
This was a hands-on session for implementing unit testing in a Xamarin.Forms project.
John spoke about designing platform dependent code for unit testing and the tools available, in particular NUnit 3.0 runners for Android and iOS.
The crisps and snacks were upgraded to pizza plus side dishes. I know this because they couldn't eat all of it and some was put in the fridge.
There will not be a Xamarin event in December due to the holidays. The next event will be in January.
