Style.com is a domain currently used for fashion news and content, but in the autumn it will be launched as a new ecommerce platform, selling luxury clothes and accessories.

It's a first for style.com owner Condé Nast, also the publisher of Vogue, GQ, Glamour and Vanity Fair, and will be rolled out in the UK before going global.

As well as fashion, the upcoming ecommerce site will also sell "upmarket" beauty, travel and technology brands, according to this report on vogue.co.uk.

Jonathan Newhouse, chairman and chief exec of Condé Nast International, points out that they already have an "active relationship" with an audience of more than 300 million and has an enormous advantage over its competitors. Which is rather honest of him.

More about the story

According to Page Six (New York Post gossip column) writers at style.com have been made redundant:

The Street say that Condé Nast will take a cut of sales, without owning the stock it sells. It also says that Condé Nast had previously invested in ecommerce start-ups:

The difference between Style.com and Vogue

Style.com was always for Vogue, and when Vogue.com launched, there was similar content across both titles.
